Acropolis Cats, Chapter 6
In which Stephano pursues a truck across Milan, while conducting a history lesson
Stephano sprinted away from Castle Sforza, then up the trunk of a tall tree and into its branches. He pounced from branch to branch till he reached a power line, and crept hurriedly along that toward the nearest pole. From there he followed the convoluted superhighway of the Milanese electrical system out of the Parco Sempione and into the city proper. He turned onto a thinner cable that sloped upward to the middle floors of an apartment building. This transected a fire escape, which Stephano ascended.
Sparing a glance when he neared the roof, he saw the police van was a mile back, still negotiating its exit from the park.
Stephano ran with all his might and launched himself across the divide to an adjacent rooftop. Along a conduit pipe, down to a penthouse balcony, through the air to its neighbor across the way, trotting across a treacherous ledge, then another great leap to a clothesline which springboarded the High Librarian back to roof height. Thus he made his way over three more densely-packed buildings in a flash, then lowered his center of gravity and slid down a thick steel cable 200 feet long, a diagonal line from roof to train station. The number 6 was just arriving, and Stephano stepped on.
